John 6:40

This is the will of the one who sent me, that everyone who sees the Son, and believes in him, should have eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day.”

What does John 6:40 mean?

Jesus is describing what God the Father actually wants: for people to recognize who Jesus is and trust in him, and in return to receive life that never ends. "Seeing" here means more than just looking at someone, it means truly knowing and understanding who Jesus is. The promise at the end, about being raised on the last day, connects to the hope of resurrection, suggesting that this eternal life isn't just something distant and abstract, but something real that transforms how we live now and continues forever.
