What does John 4:28 mean?
The Samaritan woman at the well had come to draw water in the middle of the day, likely to avoid the judgment of others in her community. When Jesus revealed that he knew her whole story, everything shifted for her. She was so moved by this encounter that she literally abandoned her errand and rushed back to town, leaving her water pot behind. What matters here isn't the pot itself, but what it represents: she dropped everything that seemed important and urgent to share what she'd just experienced. That's the kind of thing people do when they've genuinely encountered something transformative.
