What does John 20:25 mean?
Thomas needed more than secondhand reports, no matter how reliable his friends seemed. He was asking for direct evidence, something he could touch and verify himself, and his honesty about that doubt is surprisingly human. Many of us recognize ourselves in his caution, especially when we're grieving or when stakes feel impossibly high. Instead, Jesus appeared and invited him to touch the very wounds Thomas needed to see. That invitation suggests something tender about how faith works, at least sometimes. God doesn't seem offended by our need for reassurance; instead, he often meets us exactly where we are.
