John 14:4
βWhere I go, you know, and you know the way.ββ
What does John 14:4 mean?
Jesus is speaking to his disciples just before his arrest, and they're anxious about what comes next. When they ask him where he's going, he responds with this statement that sounds simple on the surface but carries deep reassurance. He's saying that they already know his destination (back to God the Father) and that they know how to follow him there, even if they don't fully realize it yet. For many people reading this, especially those in uncertain times, the real comfort comes in understanding that Jesus isn't asking us to find an obscure path on our own. The way forward is rooted in following him, in his values and his love, which his followers have already encountered and witnessed. Even when the road ahead feels unclear, the direction itself has already been shown to us.
