I will no more speak much with you, for the prince of the world comes, and he has nothing in me.

What does John 14:30 mean?

Jesus is preparing his disciples for what's ahead, telling them their time together is running short. He's referring to his imminent arrest and crucifixion, when Satan (the "prince of the world") will seem to have power over events. But there's something crucial in that second phrase: Satan has no claim on Jesus, no foothold in him, nothing to exploit. Jesus lived in complete alignment with God the Father, so darkness couldn't touch his inner being, even as his body faced suffering. For those of us reading this today, it's a profound reminder that spiritual integrity—a life genuinely turned toward God—is something no external force can truly possess or control.
