What does John 14:31 mean?

Jesus is saying something profound in a simple way: his obedience to God isn't hidden or private, it's visible proof of his love for the Father. When he does what God asks, even when it's hard (and he knows what's coming), that faithfulness becomes a living testimony to the world about what love actually looks like. It's not sentimental or self-centered, but self-giving and aligned with God's purpose. Then he's ready to move forward into what must happen next. For anyone struggling to understand why following God matters or what genuine love means, Jesus is showing us that real love shows up through our choices and commitments, especially when no one's forcing us to choose.
