John 14:29
“Now I have told you before it happens so that, when it happens, you may believe.”
What does John 14:29 mean?
Jesus is telling his disciples that he's given them advance warning about the difficult things coming, so that when those events unfold, they'll understand he isn't caught off guard and they can trust him even in uncertainty. This isn't about predicting every detail perfectly, but rather about helping them see that he has perspective they don't yet have. When hard things arrive and they remember his words, they'll recognize that Jesus understood what was happening all along, which can anchor their faith when everything feels chaotic. It's a tender way of saying, "I'm preparing you now so you won't be alone when this hits."
