What does John 11:6 mean?

When Jesus heard that his dear friend Lazarus was ill, he deliberately waited before going to help him, rather than rushing to his bedside as everyone might have expected. This delay felt painful and confusing to those who loved Lazarus, but it set the stage for something far greater than a simple healing. By waiting, Jesus would eventually raise Lazarus from the dead, which became one of the most powerful signs of his authority over death itself. Sometimes God's timing feels like a no when we're desperate for a yes, but it can actually be a way of inviting us into a deeper kind of faith and a fuller display of his power.
