John 10:5
“They will by no means follow a stranger, but will flee from him; for they don’t know the voice of strangers.””
What does John 10:5 mean?
Sheep recognize their shepherd's voice and respond to it, while they instinctively avoid voices they don't know. Jesus is describing what real relationship with him looks like: when you've genuinely encountered him and experienced his care, you develop an inner sensitivity to his direction. You can more easily spot what doesn't align with his character and teaching. This doesn't mean you'll never be confused or struggle with doubt, but there's a kind of spiritual recognition that comes from actually knowing God rather than just knowing *about* him.
