What does John 10:27 mean?
Jesus describes a relationship built on recognition and trust. When he calls himself a shepherd and his followers his sheep, he's drawing on an ancient image of care and guidance, but the heart of it is simple: those who belong to him recognize his voice and respond to it, and he knows each one personally. This isn't about blind obedience. It's about the kind of trust that develops when you know someone cares for you. Following Jesus comes from hearing him and choosing to go where he leads because you've come to recognize that his voice is trustworthy. The beautiful part is that this works both ways: you know his voice, and he knows you.
