What does John 10:26 mean?
Jesus is explaining why his message isn't landing with his listeners: they're rejecting him not because his words are unclear, but because they've chosen a different path. He's not saying some people are predetermined to be "his sheep" while others are locked out. Rather, he's describing a real relationship, like a shepherd and flock, where belonging comes through trust and openness to following him. The hardness he's pointing to is something they're actively doing, not something done to them. When we refuse to listen, we step outside the circle of those who hear his voice and respond. It's a sobering reminder that belief isn't just intellectual agreement, but a willingness to actually follow where Jesus leads.
