What does Job 36:10 mean?

When we're stuck in harmful patterns, God doesn't just punish from a distance. Elihu describes how God works to get our attention, opening our ears so we can actually hear what we need to learn. The goal isn't punishment for its own sake, but a call to turn around and walk away from the things that are hurting us. This speaks to something many people experience in hard seasons: sometimes we need someone or something to break through our defensiveness and help us see what we're doing to ourselves. The invitation here is always toward restoration, not destruction. God is described as actively working to help us return to what's true and good.
