What does Job 28:6 mean?
Job is painting a picture of all the precious treasures hidden deep within the earth—sapphires gleaming in stone, gold dust scattered throughout. He's describing the riches that miners labor intensely to extract from the ground, risking their lives in dark shafts for these beautiful and valuable things. The point becomes clear in the verses that follow: if humans can move mountains and dig through rock to find physical wealth, why can't they find wisdom? Job is wrestling with the mystery that while we've mastered searching for earthly treasures, wisdom from God remains elusive and can't be purchased or mined. It's a question many of us understand, especially when we're desperate for answers or direction and don't know where to look.
