Jeremiah 6:18
“Therefore hear, you nations, and know, congregation, what is among them.”
What does Jeremiah 6:18 mean?
Jeremiah is calling out to the surrounding nations and peoples to pay attention to what's happening to Judah, because what God is about to do will be a sign to everyone watching. The prophet is essentially saying: look at what happens when people turn away from God and refuse to listen to His warnings—there will be real consequences, and these won't be hidden or private matters. This was a dramatic moment in Israel's history as judgment was closing in, and Jeremiah wanted the whole world to witness it as a lesson. The invitation to "know" and "hear" is meant to shake people awake, whether they were Judeans who needed to repent or foreigners who needed to understand God's character and power.
