Jeremiah 44:24
“Moreover Jeremiah said to all the people, including all the women, “Hear Yahweh’s word, all Judah who are in the land of Egypt!”
What does Jeremiah 44:24 mean?
Jeremiah is delivering a final, urgent message to the Jewish refugees who had fled to Egypt after Jerusalem's fall. He's making sure everyone hears him, specifically calling out that the women are included in this warning, which suggests the entire community needs to listen. His opening is intense because what follows will be a hard word about their unfaithfulness, and he wants no one to be able to claim they didn't hear it. In difficult circumstances, when people are scattered and afraid, God's word through the prophet still reaches out to gather them all in and speak directly to their situation.
