What does Jeremiah 43:6 mean?
After Jerusalem's fall, a group of refugees decided to flee to Egypt, convinced they'd be safer there than staying under Babylonian rule. They took everyone with them: families, officials' daughters, and even the prophet Jeremiah and his scribe Baruch, apparently against their will or at least without their full consent. This moment captures how fear can sweep people along in a direction they might not choose for themselves. Jeremiah had been urging people to accept God's plan and stay put, but desperation and distrust overruled his counsel.
