What does Jeremiah 43:7 mean?

After the fall of Jerusalem, a group of Judean refugees ignored the prophet Jeremiah's warning that God wanted them to stay in their homeland and trust him. Instead, they fled to Egypt, believing safety lay in that direction. Tahpanhes was a fortified Egyptian city where they settled, thinking they'd found shelter. This moment captures the painful consequence of not listening to God's guidance, even when delivered through his own prophet, and how fear can override faith and lead us away from what's actually best for us.
