“You shall call on me, and you shall go and pray to me, and I will listen to you.”
What does Jeremiah 29:12 mean?
God is promising here that when you reach out to him in prayer, he actually hears you. The word "listen" doesn't just mean he hears the sound of your voice, but that he pays attention, cares about what you're saying, and will respond. This verse comes from a letter Jeremiah wrote to exiles in Babylon who were far from home and probably feeling abandoned, so the promise was especially powerful for people in despair. Whatever season you're in, God is inviting you to bring your whole self to him in prayer, with the assurance that you won't be ignored or dismissed.
