Jeremiah 29:11
“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you,” says Yahweh, “thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future.”
What does Jeremiah 29:11 mean?
God is speaking here to people in exile, scattered far from home and everything familiar, wondering if they've been abandoned. He's telling them that even though their circumstances feel dark and hopeless, his intentions toward them have never changed. His plans aren't meant to harm them but to bring them toward peace and restoration. This is an invitation to trust that God hasn't forgotten about you, even in seasons when life feels broken or meaningless. The promise isn't that difficulty won't come, but that God's heart toward you is fundamentally good, and he's working toward a future where things make sense again.
