What does Jeremiah 23:38 mean?
Jeremiah is confronting people who claim to speak God's words when they actually don't. God had explicitly told them to stop using his name to back up their false messages, but they kept doing it anyway, treating his authority like a stamp they could slap on whatever they wanted to say. The core issue is spiritual fraud: wrapping your own ideas in God's name gives them false weight and tricks people into trusting something that might lead them astray. God takes this seriously because his people's faith depends on being able to distinguish between genuine guidance and mere human opinion dressed up as divine truth.
