What does Jeremiah 2:29 mean?

God is calling out His people for arguing with Him when they're the ones who've broken their covenant with Him. It's a moment of divine frustration, like a parent asking "why are you blaming me for the consequences you caused yourself?" The Israelites had been unfaithful, yet they were acting as though God were the one in the wrong, and He's asking them to stop the pretense. This speaks to something many of us recognize: it's hard to take responsibility, and it's tempting to deflect blame onto God when life gets difficult.
