Jeremiah 2:28
““But where are your gods that you have made for yourselves? Let them arise, if they can save you in the time of your trouble: for you have as many gods as you have towns, O Judah.”
What does Jeremiah 2:28 mean?
God is calling out the people of Judah for turning to idols instead of to him, especially when life gets hard. The prophet Jeremiah is essentially asking: where are all these false gods now that you actually need help? They won't come through for you because they were never real sources of power or salvation to begin with. What makes this passage so sharp is that Judah had multiplied their idols—each town had its own gods—yet none of them could deliver when real trouble arrived.
