Isaiah 59:3
“For your hands are defiled with blood, and your fingers with iniquity. Your lips have spoken lies. Your tongue mutters wickedness.”
What does Isaiah 59:3 mean?
Isaiah is painting a vivid picture of how sin touches every part of us, from our actions (hands stained with blood) to our words (lips and tongue). He's not necessarily addressing literal murderers, but rather describing how deeply wrongdoing becomes woven into who we are when we turn away from God, affecting everything we do and say. The prophet is calling people to see themselves honestly, the way you might stop and realize your whole day has been shaped by one wrong choice. This confrontation is meant to shake people awake before they can turn back and find healing, which is exactly where Isaiah points them in the verses that follow.
