Isaiah 57:16
“For I will not contend forever, neither will I be always angry; for the spirit would faint before me, and the souls whom I have made.”
What does Isaiah 57:16 mean?
God is telling us that his anger doesn't burn forever, even when we've genuinely disappointed him. He could exhaust us completely with endless judgment, but he chooses restraint because he cares about the people he created. There's something deeply tender here, beneath what might sound like a stern warning, the real message is that God's nature is to relent, to step back, to let us breathe and recover.
