Isaiah 30:2
“who set out to go down into Egypt, and have not asked my advice; to strengthen themselves in the strength of Pharaoh, and to take refuge in the shadow of Egypt!”
What does Isaiah 30:2 mean?
The people of Judah are making plans without consulting God, rushing to Egypt hoping Pharaoh's military power will protect them from their enemies. Isaiah is pointing out how they've skipped the most important step: asking God what he thinks. Instead of trusting in God's guidance and strength, they're looking for security in a human alliance, betting their safety on Egypt's army and political favor. It's a picture of how we sometimes scramble for solutions and lean on whatever earthly help seems most powerful, forgetting that the one source of real wisdom and protection is right there waiting to be asked.
