Isaiah 30:1
““Woe to the rebellious children”, says Yahweh, “who take counsel, but not from me; and who make an alliance, but not with my Spirit, that they may add sin to sin,”
What does Isaiah 30:1 mean?
God is speaking here to people who keep making their own plans and cutting him out of the decision-making process. They form agreements and strategies with others, but they never stop to ask God what he thinks or seek his guidance and blessing. The painful consequence of this pattern is that each decision made without God becomes another step away from him, piling sin on top of sin, like debt accumulating with interest. What makes this a "woe" rather than just a warning is that God sees the heartbreak coming, not from punishment he's inflicting, but from the natural weight of living in rebellion against the one who loves and knows them best.
