Isaiah 28:21
“For Yahweh will rise up as on Mount Perazim. He will be angry as in the valley of Gibeon; that he may do his work, his unusual work, and bring to pass his act, his extraordinary act.”
What does Isaiah 28:21 mean?
God is describing how He will act with an intensity that feels foreign to His nature, like when He fought dramatically for Israel at Mount Perazim and later at Gibeon. The point is that God's judgment will be as real and powerful as His past deliverances, except now it's directed toward His own people who have turned away from Him. Sometimes God must do something that goes against His desire for relationship and blessing, stepping into a mode of correction because His people have refused gentler calls to return to Him. This is uncomfortable truth, but it's also honest: genuine love sometimes requires hard intervention, not just comfort.
