What does Isaiah 28:20 mean?
Isaiah is describing a situation where no comfort is enough, no refuge will work. The prophet is using the image of trying to sleep on a bed that's far too small, where you can't stretch out your weary body or pull a blanket over yourself, to show what it's like when people try to find security in the wrong places. In context, he's addressing those relying on false alliances and broken treaties instead of trusting God, and he's saying those solutions won't sustain them through the coming trouble.
