Haggai 1:11
“I called for a drought on the land, on the mountains, on the grain, on the new wine, on the oil, on that which the ground produces, on men, on livestock, and on all the labor of the hands.””
What does Haggai 1:11 mean?
God is describing the hardship He allowed to fall on His people during a season when they had neglected rebuilding His temple. The drought affected everything, from their crops to their animals to their own strength and ability to work, making life genuinely difficult. This wasn't punishment for punishment's sake, but a wake-up call, a consequence meant to redirect their attention back to what mattered most spiritually. When we ignore what God calls us to do, He sometimes allows our circumstances to become uncomfortable enough that we finally listen and turn back toward Him.
