What does Habakkuk 1:15 mean?
Habakkuk watches his enemy, the Babylonians, sweep up people effortlessly, like fishermen hauling in a massive catch. The prophet uses this image of nets and hooks to show how ruthlessly they're gathering captives and conquering nations, treating human lives as casually as fish. What makes this verse sting is that final line: the enemy celebrates their brutal success, rejoicing in their own power as if they answer to no one.
