Genesis 29:6
“He said to them, “Is it well with him?” They said, “It is well. See, Rachel, his daughter, is coming with the sheep.””
What does Genesis 29:6 mean?
Jacob has just arrived at a well in his uncle Laban's territory after fleeing his home, and he's asking local shepherds about his relative's wellbeing. When they tell him that all is well and that Rachel (Laban's daughter) is approaching with the sheep, we're seeing the quiet moment before something that will change Jacob's life forever. In the next verses, Jacob will see Rachel and fall deeply in love with her at first sight. This simple exchange captures how life can shift in an instant, when we're simply going about a normal day asking ordinary questions and suddenly encounter someone who matters greatly.
