Genesis 26:28
“They said, “We saw plainly that Yahweh was with you. We said, ‘Let there now be an oath between us, even between us and you, and let us make a covenant with you,”
What does Genesis 26:28 mean?
Abimelech and his officials come to Isaac after witnessing God's blessing on his life, and they want to make a peace agreement with him. Even though these leaders had previously sent Isaac away out of fear, they now recognize that God's presence with him is undeniable and that it's better to be allies than adversaries. Their request for a covenant shows they understood that being connected to someone God favors brings protection and prosperity. It's a beautiful reminder that when God's hand is genuinely on your life, others notice, and it can open doors to unexpected reconciliation and partnership.
