What does Genesis 23:19 mean?
Abraham's purchase of the burial cave marks a turning point in his relationship with the land God had promised him. Until this moment, he'd lived there as a sojourner without owning anything except what he could buy. By securing this burial site for Sarah, he was making a permanent claim, planting roots that would outlast even his own life. The cave at Machpelah became sacred ground for his descendants.
