What does Genesis 18:14 mean?
God is asking Abraham a question that already contains its own answer: nothing is impossible for him. Sarah was far past childbearing age and had laughed at the idea of having a son, yet God was promising that she would conceive at a specific time. This wasn't about magic or wishful thinking, but about God's power to accomplish what he has promised, even when the circumstances look hopeless to human eyes. The question invites Abraham (and us) to consider what we think is truly beyond reach in our own lives. Sometimes we give up on things because we've decided they're impossible, when really we've just decided they're impossible for us. God reminds us that his ability isn't limited by our circumstances or our doubts, and he doesn't need our permission or understanding to act.
