What does Genesis 18:15 mean?
Sarah had just overheard that she would have a son in her old age, and the idea struck her as so absurd that she laughed to herself. When confronted about it, her first instinct was to deny it—partly out of fear at being caught, partly perhaps out of embarrassment at her own doubt. But the visitor (often understood as God or God's messenger) gently but firmly calls out the truth: yes, you did laugh. What's tender about this moment is that it captures something so human.
