Ezekiel 7:12

What does Ezekiel 7:12 mean?
Ezekiel is announcing God's judgment on Israel, and he describes it in language that turns the normal human experience upside down. Usually when someone buys something, they're happy, and when someone sells, they're sad to let go of what they owned. But Ezekiel says that in the coming disaster, these ordinary feelings won't matter anymore because something far worse is coming for everyone. This is meant to shock his listeners into understanding how serious God's judgment would be. The prophet isn't saying individual transactions are wrong, but rather that when God's wrath arrives, the usual concerns of daily life (whether you got a good deal, whether you made money) become irrelevant. Everyone, from every walk of life, will face the same reckoning. It's a vivid way of saying that calamity was coming for the whole nation, and no amount of commerce or personal success could protect anyone from it.
