Ezekiel 28:3
“behold, you are wiser than Daniel; there is no secret that is hidden from you;”
What does Ezekiel 28:3 mean?
God is speaking here to the king of Tyre through the prophet Ezekiel, and the words drip with sarcasm. Daniel was legendary even in his own time for extraordinary wisdom and insight into hidden things, so when God says the king is "wiser than Daniel," he's doing the opposite of complimenting him. The king had grown so proud of his wealth and position that he believed himself practically all-knowing and unstoppable. This cutting remark works like a mirror held up to human arrogance. The king thought his intelligence and success meant he answered to no one, but God is about to remind him that there are always limits to human knowledge and power. Sometimes we need to hear sarcasm like this to jolt us awake to how small we actually are in the larger scheme of things.
