Ezekiel 12:4
“You shall bring out your stuff by day in their sight, as stuff for moving. You shall go out yourself at evening in their sight, as when men go out into exile.”
What does Ezekiel 12:4 mean?
Ezekiel was commanded to act out a dramatic warning to Jerusalem: he was to pack his belongings openly during the day (like someone preparing to leave) and then slip away at night, mimicking how exiles flee their homeland. This strange public performance was meant to shake people awake to the reality that judgment was coming, that their city would soon fall and they would be torn from their homes. The sign was meant to make an invisible spiritual truth visible and unforgettable. By watching Ezekiel go through the motions of exile himself, the people couldn't ignore what God was saying, even if they refused to listen to words alone. Sometimes when we're heading toward a cliff, we need more than warnings, we need to see the danger embodied right in front of us.
