What does Ezekiel 12:5 mean?
God told Ezekiel to perform a strange public action: dig through a wall and carry belongings through it, all while people watched. This was a dramatic object lesson about the coming exile, when Jerusalem's people would have to flee their city in hasty, undignified ways, sneaking through broken walls rather than using the gates like normal travelers. By acting out this prophecy himself, Ezekiel made the abstract idea of judgment and displacement into something concrete that people could see and remember. Sometimes when words alone don't penetrate, seeing someone actually do something can make truth land in our hearts in a different way.
