Exodus 34:4
“He chiseled two tablets of stone like the first; and Moses rose up early in the morning, and went up to Mount Sinai, as Yahweh had commanded him, and took in his hand two stone tablets.”
What does Exodus 34:4 mean?
After breaking the first set of stone tablets in anger at the people's sin, Moses faced a choice: to give up or to try again. This verse shows him choosing faithfulness, rising early and climbing the mountain once more to receive God's law. There's something deeply human in that early morning obedience, in showing up when you've already failed and the path is steep. God is inviting renewal here, not punishment, and Moses accepts the invitation by simply moving forward.
