“No one shall come up with you or be seen anywhere on the mountain. Do not let the flocks or herds graze in front of that mountain.””
What does Exodus 34:3 mean?
Moses is being called back up Mount Sinai to receive a fresh set of the Ten Commandments after the golden calf incident, and God is giving him very specific instructions about keeping the encounter sacred and undisturbed. The command to keep people away and even prevent livestock from grazing nearby isn't arbitrary, but rather emphasizes that this is holy ground where God is present in a particular way.
