Exodus 32:22
“Aaron said, “Don’t let the anger of my lord grow hot. You know the people, that they are set on evil.”
What does Exodus 32:22 mean?
Aaron is defending himself after Moses discovers the golden calf that Aaron made while Moses was on Mount Sinai receiving the Ten Commandments. Instead of taking responsibility, Aaron tries to appease Moses by saying the people were simply bent on wrongdoing, as if he had no choice but to go along. It's a very human moment, capturing how we sometimes shift blame when we're caught doing something wrong, especially when we're afraid of someone's anger. This verse reminds us of our own tendency to make excuses rather than owning our mistakes. Aaron knew better, but fear and social pressure made him compromise his integrity.
