What does Esther 9:23 mean?
The Jewish people chose to make permanent a celebration they had already started, following the instructions Mordecai (their trusted leader) had written to them. This was the origin of Purim, a festival commemorating their deliverance from Haman's plot to destroy them. What began as a spontaneous response to surviving danger became a deliberate, ongoing tradition passed down through generations. It's a reminder that sometimes our most meaningful practices emerge from lived experiences of God's protection, and choosing to remember them helps us stay grateful.
