Ephesians 5:3

What does Ephesians 5:3 mean?
Paul is telling the Ephesian church that certain behaviors and attitudes shouldn't characterize them at all, not even as casual conversation topics. He's naming sexual immorality, impurity, and greed as incompatible with living as God's holy people, and he's essentially saying the community should set a standard where these things aren't normalized or joked about in everyday talk. This doesn't mean pretending problems don't exist or never addressing real struggles, but rather refusing to treat sin as acceptable or inevitable. It's about the culture you build together: one where people help each other aim higher rather than lower. Paul grounds this in identity, reminding them they've been set apart for God, so their conversations and choices should reflect that calling.
