Deuteronomy 29:2
“Moses called to all Israel, and said to them: Your eyes have seen all that Yahweh did in the land of Egypt to Pharaoh, and to all his servants, and to all his land;”
What does Deuteronomy 29:2 mean?
Moses is reminding the Israelites of the incredible things they witnessed God do in Egypt—the plagues, the destruction of Pharaoh's army, the liberation of their people. He's calling them to remember not as a history lesson, but as evidence of God's faithfulness and power in their own lives. Since many of those listening had actually been there and seen these things firsthand (or had heard them from parents who were), this wasn't abstract theology but lived memory. By anchoring his words in what they'd already witnessed, Moses is saying, "You know what God is capable of, because you've seen it with your own eyes."
