Acts 3:24

What does Acts 3:24 mean?
Peter is reminding his listeners that the coming of Jesus wasn't a surprise twist in God's story, but something the prophets had been pointing toward all along. From Samuel through the centuries of Israel's history, these spiritual leaders spoke about a time of restoration and redemption that would arrive. When Peter says "these days," he means the present moment, after Jesus' resurrection, when God's promised salvation is finally becoming real in people's lives. This would have been powerful for people who grew up treasuring the Hebrew scriptures. It says to them: the Jesus we're telling you about isn't contradicting what you've always believed, but completing it. The prophets you've revered were actually witnesses to what's happening right now.
