What does Acts 22:9 mean?
Paul is describing what happened when he encountered the risen Jesus on the Damascus road. His traveling companions experienced something real, something undeniable, but they didn't experience it the same way he did. They saw the blinding light and felt the terror of that moment, yet the specific message Jesus spoke was meant for Paul alone. There's something comforting in this. It tells us that spiritual encounters don't always come to everyone at once, and that's okay. Other people might witness that something significant is happening in your life without fully understanding what God is saying to you personally. Your companions on the journey may see the evidence of God's work even when they can't hear the particular word meant for your ears.
