What does Acts 1:13 mean?
After Jesus ascended to heaven, his remaining eleven disciples gathered in a rented upper room in Jerusalem, and this verse simply lists who was there. It's a quiet but significant moment: these ordinary people, who had just watched their leader die and then appear risen, were waiting together for something Jesus had promised them. The listing of their names matters because each of these men would soon help launch the church into the world, yet most of us know almost nothing about them. They weren't famous philosophers or powerful leaders. What they shared was proximity to Jesus and willingness to stay put when everything felt uncertain. Sometimes faith looks like showing up, waiting together, and trusting that God keeps his promises.
