2 Corinthians 6:16

What does 2 Corinthians 6:16 mean?
Paul is asking the Corinthians to think carefully about what they're allowing into their lives and hearts. He's using the image of a temple, which in Jewish understanding was the sacred dwelling place of God, to say that your body and spirit are now God's home. When you follow Jesus, you're not just joining a club or adopting a new set of rules, you're becoming a place where God actually lives. The question "what agreement has a temple with idols?" isn't really asking for an answer, because the answer is obvious: none. A temple dedicated to God can't simultaneously be dedicated to false gods or the things that pull you away from him. This doesn't mean you have to be perfect or live in isolation, but it does mean being thoughtful about what you're inviting into your inner life: the habits, relationships, and values you're feeding regularly. The beautiful part is that this isn't about earning God's presence through moral effort. Paul is reminding his readers that God wants to walk with you and be in relationship with you. That's already the offer on the table. The invitation is to let that reality shape how you actually live.
