What does 2 Corinthians 6:17 mean?
God is calling His people to live differently from the world around them, not because physical separation is always possible or required, but because following Jesus shapes how we think and act. The phrase "unclean" here refers to anything that pulls us away from Him or compromises our values, whether that's habits, relationships, or pursuits that distract us from what matters most. What makes this verse so comforting is the promise at the end: "I will receive you." God isn't asking us to be separate because He's distant or disappointed in us. Rather, He's inviting us into closeness with Him by turning away from things that damage that relationship. This doesn't mean judging others or living as though we're better than anyone else, but rather making conscious choices about what we allow into our lives and hearts.
